Brett Rogers
Reed college classics major and occasional actor, Brett cast me as Homer in the Hum 110 Play my freshman year and also brought me into the Midnight Theater world, which for most of my college life would remain an outlet for both stress and the numerous strange ideas which popped into my head. Funny and weird in every sense, Brett appeared in a number of my directing scenes and sketches, including dancing as part of the zombie chorus in the original Midnight Theater premiere of The Vampire Sorority Babes vs. The Inter-Galactic Frat Zombies: A Ballet. He later showed up as Xerxes in Wild Blue Peaks and contributed his unique brand of strange facial expressions and sounds to the performance, always being particularly good at looking distressed by the various attempts on his life. He criticized my choice to use the Smiths as the show's theme song, but all was well after I agreed to let him work a rubber chicken into his final scene. When he graduated from Reed College he gave me quite the little nod in his thesis and we've been more or less happy to know one another since, if not so good at keeping in touch.
