Gabrielle Bruwer

Tucson singer and actress who had appeared in the Borderlands
production of Rags with Joshua Hanna, Valerie Baugh and Tom
Stefanek, and later joined us for the Horror Unspeakable revival
of Vincent of Gilgamesh, where she became the first actress
to play both Ishtar and Ereshkigal, rendering the two goddess
as two halves of the same being rather than separate entities.
Clad in dark pink and translucent black, Gabe was slight and
beautiful and a lovely contrast to Joshua Hanna in the other
divine role, Shamash, both of them working their singer trained
voices to the hilt in creating resonant vocal performances.
When they stood together as The Scorpion People in the second
act it was terribly imposing, especially as they excelled at
moving their heads in sync with one another and giving people
the evil eye. Though work prevented Gabby from ever doing another
show with us, she remains one of my favorite people to run into
at social engagements and her performance, the first to realize
a very important vision of mine, will always be very special
to me. Back
